PR Sreejesh May Coach Indian Junior Hockey Team After Paris Olympics Retirement

After securing a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics, veteran Indian hockey goalkeeper PR Sreejesh is reportedly set to transition into a coaching role with the Indian junior hockey team. According to a report by Revsportz, Hockey India Secretary General Bholanath Singh has confirmed that Sreejesh will take on this new responsibility following his retirement.

Sreejesh, who had already announced that the Paris Olympics would be his final tournament, leaves behind a remarkable legacy, having represented India in over 300 matches. His career, which began in 2006, is decorated with numerous accolades, including two Olympic bronze medals, two Asian Games titles, a World League bronze, and several Asian Champions Trophy titles.

Known not only for his sharp goalkeeping skills but also for his tactical acumen, Sreejesh was often seen directing his teammates from the goalpost. He served as a leader for the Indian team on multiple occasions and played a crucial role in many of India’s victories.

At the Paris Olympics, Sreejesh continued to impress, conceding only 13 goals throughout the tournament and playing a key role in India’s quarterfinal victory against Great Britain, where he helped secure a 4-2 win in the penalty shootout. His transition to coaching the junior team marks the beginning of a new chapter in his illustrious career.
